Your weekly round-up of the CAs and other business professionals moving into new roles.

Five CAs promoted in Johnston Carmichael expansion

Gavin Young CA, Scott Jeffrey CA, Irvine Spowart CA and Rosalind Catto CA have been named as the newest Partners at Johnston Carmichael. Iain Castles CA has also been promoted to the position of Director.

Gavin has been with the firm for over 10 years and is a member of Johnston Carmichael's Audit Consultation and Advisory Group. He qualified as a CA in 1998.

Scott trained with a Big Four firm and joined Johnston Carmichael in 2005, specialising in not-for-profit. He qualified as a CA in 1999.

Irvine previously held senior and management positions at Chiene + Tait and EY before moving to Johnston Carmichael in 2010. He qualified as a CA in 2004.

Rosalind has been with Johnston Carmichael since 2004 and holds a qualification from the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT). She qualified as a CA in 2003.

Iain previously worked with Royal Mail and was an Accounts Supervisor at Ritson Smith when the firm merged with Johnston Carmichael. He qualified as a CA in 2012.

Jill Barrow CA joins Social Investment Scotland (SIS)

Jill Barrow CA has been appointed Financial Controller of Social Investment Scotland (SIS).

She joins the organisation from RSM, formerly Baker Tilly, in Edinburgh where she held the position of Audit Supervisor. Jill has a wealth of experience with the third sector and qualified as a CA in 2016.

Jill also volunteers as a financial mentor with Sported, a charity supporting community sports groups in the UK, and is an executive member of the South-East Scotland Scouts Finance Committee.

Campbell Dallas appoints devolved tax specialist

Colin McHardy has joined Campbell Dallas to lead the firm's devolved tax service in Scotland.

Formerly Head of Tax Operations and Compliance for Revenue Scotland, Colin has considerable experience in drafting tax legislation and guidance.

Campbell Dallas Head of Tax Aileen Gates commented: “We are delighted to welcome Colin to the firm and to our expanding tax team. Devolved taxation is already important, but it is going to become even more so during the next few years. Colin’s expertise and understanding of this complex area will be invaluable to our clients."

IKEA Group names new CEO

Jesper Brodin has been chosen to succeed Peter Agnefjall as Chief Executive of IKEA Group in September 2017.

Currently leading IKEA in Sweden, Jesper has been with the company for more than 20 years and is a key figure in the development of products.

Lars-Johan Jarnheimer, Chairman of IKEA Group's parent company INGKA Holding, said in a statement: "I look forward to working with Jesper as we take our next steps in becoming the world's leading multichannel home furnishing retailer. While I am sad to see Peter leave after many years of service, I respect his decision."

Crowe Clark Whitehill names new Partners

Crowe Clark Whitehill has appointed two new Partners to its risk and assurance and employer advisory operations.

Richard Evans has previously worked in an audit advisory capacity with Deloitte for over 15 years. He joins the non-profit team of Crowe Clark Whitehill as Partner.

Caroline Harwood has worked in taxation with a number of high-profile firms, including KPMG, Arthur Andersen, PwC and Grant Thornton. She is a chartered tax adviser and sits on the Share Schemes Expert Committee of the Quoted Companies Alliance.
