Chris Orr CA appointed FD of Lawrie & Symington

Livestock auctioneers Lawrie & Symington has announced Chris Orr CA as its new Finance Director.

Chris joins the auctioneers from Tesco Bank where he held the position of Decision Support Manager.

Prior to Tesco Bank, Chris held various roles at EY, including Manager of Transaction Advisory Services and Senior Executive of Transaction Support.

During his time at the Big Four firm, Chris seconded to Glasgow 2014 Ltd to manage a multi-million-pound budget during the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Hamish McCall, managing director of Lawrie & Symington, said: “We’re very pleased Chris has agreed to join the business.

“He brings an outstanding level of knowledge to the role, including experience of foreign and global markets, and we are confident he will help us deliver the results we are seeking to achieve as a business.”

Moore Stephens names new Partner

Ken Almand has been appointed as Transfer Pricing Partner with Moore Stephens’ Business Tax practice.

Ken joins the firm from RSM where he was Head of Transfer Pricing.

He has also held the roles of International Tax Specialist at HMRC and Head of Transfer Pricing at Mazars.

Ken said: “I am looking forward to working with the outstanding members of the UK Tax department and Transfer Pricing team at Moore Stephens as we develop our national and international transfer pricing practice.”

Dixons Carphone announces new Group CEO

Alex Baldock has been appointed Group Chief Executive of Dixons Carphone.

He will take on the position in April 2018, succeeding Sebastian James who spent six years in the role.

Ian Livingston, Chairman of Dixons Carphone plc, said: “The Board and I are delighted to welcome Alex Baldock to the Group.

“He has an outstanding track record in leading large, complex consumer-facing businesses.”

New CEO at Ongo

Housing provider Ongo has named Steve Hepworth as its new Chief Executive.

Having worked for Ongo since 2007, Steve will take over the role from Andy Orrey.

Chair of Ongo Partnerhip, David Hilditch, said: “I am delighted for him and for Ongo and congratulate Steve on his achievement.

“I look forward to working with him in his new role.”

British Land finds new CFO

Simon Carter has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of British Land.

Simon joins the company from Logicor and will take over the role from Lucinda Bell.

He previously spent more than 10 years at British Land, before moving on to positions at Quintain Estates & Development and Logicor.

Chris Grigg, Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to welcome Simon back to British Land. In his roles at Quintain and Logicor he has gained a very broad perspective and significant leadership experience and expertise.”
