David Walker CA named COO of BTO Solicitors LLP

David Walker CA has joined BTO Solicitors as Chief Operating Officer.

He makes the move from Ecolab, where he has been Finance Director - Northern Europe for two years. Prior to that role, David worked with Sodexo and Geoghegans. He qualified as a CA in 1994.

David commented: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to share my skills and experience with my BTO colleagues and I look forward to being a positive asset to the firm and to our clients."

Michael Moore CA joins the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA)

Former Liberal Democrat MP Michael Moore CA has been appointed as Director General of the BVCA and will take up the role later this year.

Michael is currently a Senior Adviser at PwC, a position he has held since 2016. He was the MP for the Tweeddale, Ettrick and Lauderdale constituency for 18 years, stepping down after the 2015 General Election. Michael is the Chairman of the Borders Book Festival, a Non-Executive Director of the Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University, and qualified as a CA in 1991.

Calum Paterson, BVCA Chairman, said: "Michael brings exceptional credentials and experience in both business and politics.

"I am confident that he will be an excellent leader of the BVCA at this important time for our industry and for UK business more generally."

Johnston Carmichael hires Partner to financial services advisory team

Ewen Fleming has been named Partner in the financial services function at Johnston Carmichael.

He brings a wealth of experience, having previously led Grant Thornton's financial services practice. Ewen has also held positions at RBS and Santander UK.

Sandy Manson CA, Chief Executive of Johnston Carmichael and ICAS President, commented: “We are really delighted to be welcoming someone of Ewen’s experience and stature to Johnston Carmichael where he will play a very significant role in developing our financial services offering.

Compass Business Finance appoints new Company Director

David Bunker has joined Compass Business Finance as Company Director.

He has spent over 25 years at Close Brothers Asset Finance, most recently in the role of Assistant Managing Director. He was a Founder of the company's business in Germany and has played a major role in their print team.

Mark Nelson, Director of Compass Business Finance, said, "As the business continues to grow, it’s crucial that we have the right people and structure in place to both support the existing business and keep the momentum going into the future. David, and the wealth of experience he brings is a key part of this."

Kellogg's announces new Finance Director

Jon Akehurst has succeeded Robert O’Sullivan in the role of UK and Ireland Finance Director at Kellogg's. Robert has been promoted to the role of Vice President of Finance for the company.

Jon was previously CFO of Crown Pet Foods and has close to a decade's experience in finance for the food and commercial sector. He has also worked with Associated British Foods, General Mills and Mars.
