Jon Alexander CA appointed FD of Buccleuch

Buccleuch, which comprises the business interests of the Buccleuch Family, has named Jon Alexander CA as its new Finance Director.

Jon has been with the company since 2004, previously holding the position of Group Tax and Treasury Manager.

He started his career within the corporate tax department of Arthur Andersen, before establishing an in-house tax department with international ship management company, V-Ships. He qualified as a CA in 2000 and as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2002.

Jon said: “Buccleuch is a diverse and progressive business and it is a pleasure to be given the opportunity to play an even greater role in its continuing development."

Hutcheon Mearns brings on Piotr Wisthal CA

Piotr Wishal CA has joined Hutcheon Mearns in what the firm has called a “key appointment” to their consulting team of accountants.

Piotr completed his training with PwC and has held several senior finance positions within listed and private equity-backed oil and gas service companies in Aberdeen.

Hutcheon Mearns’ Partner, Andrew Ferguson said, “Piotr is a dynamic accountant and a great addition to our already highly experienced team.”

Speaking about his new position Piotr said, “I am delighted to be joining Hutcheon Mearns and I look forward to getting involved in my first assignment this week with a major PLC.”

Craig Errington appointed Chair of the FCA Smaller Business Practitioner Panel

FCA Chairman, John Griffith-Jones, has announced the appointment of a new Chair for the FCA’s independent Smaller Business Practitioner Panel.

Craig Errington succeeds Clinton Askew, Director of Citywide Financial Partners.

John said: "The Smaller Business Practitioner Panel plays a vital role in ensuring that the voice of smaller firms in the industry is heard in the UK's regulatory system. I am sure that Craig will continue the excellent work of his predecessor and I look forward to working with him in his new role.”

TSB appoints new Non-Executive Director

TSB Bank plc has announced the appointment of Paulina Beato as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

Paulina is an experienced Board Director and Advisor with significant international expertise across a range of different industries and governmental agencies.

Commenting on her appointment, Will Samuel, Chairman at TSB said, “I am delighted to welcome Paulina to TSB, she will bring a wealth of skills to our non-executive team, including experience of audit, risk and risk analytics, and extensive knowledge of banking and banking competition in Europe.”

Deloitte Partner appointed chair of BPS Birmingham

Ian Barnes, International Tax Partner at Deloitte has been elected as the new chair of Business Professional Services Birmingham (BPS Birmingham).

Ian replaces Wesleyan CFO Ahmed Farooq.

Commenting on his appointment, Ian said: "As chair, I will be looking to build on Ahmed’s legacy particularly around how we can help our sector address the complex and important challenges around skills.”
