Douglas McLaren CA appointed COO of Castle Water

Independent water retailer Castle Water has announced the appointment of Douglas McLaren CA as Chief Operating Officer, effective from 1 June 2018.

Douglas, who is also a law graduate, is currently UK Operations Director for ScottishPower Energy Retail.

Castle Water CEO, John Reynolds OBE, said: “I’m delighted to confirm that Douglas McLaren will join Castle Water as Chief Operating Officer.

“A highly experienced operations director, he will bring further financial, regulatory, and commercial expertise to our accomplished leadership team.”

Douglas said: “I am delighted to be joining Castle Water. The appetite for growth, innovation and excellent customer service is clear and I am excited at the prospect of driving further success, working with John Reynolds and the wider Castle Water team."

Frank McMorrow CA joins board of BBM

BBM Solicitors have appointed Frank McMorrow CA as a Non-Executive Advisor to its board.

Frank, who qualified in 1987, has more than 30 years’ experience in the industry, having worked his way to director level at KPMG, becoming a Partner at a smaller firm and setting up his own forensic accounting and corporate finance practice, which merged with Henderson Loggie in 2007.

Quoted by Scottish Legal News, Eric Baijal, founder and managing director of BBM Solicitors, said: “We are pleased to have someone of Frank’s calibre and experience, with finance and commercial skills across a range of sectors, and a keen insight into professional practice, to support the Board in driving the firm forward to further success.”

Head of Europol appointed Partner at Deloitte

Rob Wainwright, Executive Director of Europol, has been announced as Senior Partner in Deloitte's European cyber security practice.

Rob joins the Big Four firm from Europol, the European Union (EU) law enforcement agency, where he has been Executive Director for the past nine years.

Jacques Buith, managing partner of Risk Advisory at Deloitte North West Europe said: “Rob’s expertise simply speaks for itself – he has not only a long career in Governmental service but has helped transform Europol into the leading European security institution on cyber, terrorist, financial crime and other threats. Having held such a significant role, he has an unparalleled understanding of how cyber and related risks are evolving and the criminal behaviour behind such acts.”

New CFO for Tritax

Tritax, a property investment fund management house, has named Ben Freeman as Chief Financial Officer of the Tritax Group.

Prior to joining Tritax, Ben's roles have included recent interim FD/CFO positions at Circle Housing (Clarion), Viridian Housing (Optivo), Fortis Living (HA), Quintain PLC and Bedfordshire Pilgrims (HA), as well as consultancy roles at British Land PLC, Peabody Housing, Astor Housing, Hyde HA and L&G (investment managers).

Coalfire appoints new CEO

Cyber security advisory services provider Coalfire has announced the appointment of Tom McAndrew as CEO, effective 1 April 2018.

Tom succeeds Larry Jones, who served as Chairman since 2012 and CEO since 2015.

Tom has held key leadership roles at Coalfire since he joined the company in 2006, most recently as chief operating officer.

He said: “I’m excited to take Coalfire to the next level and will continue to build on our positive growth, propelling the business to a higher level of market awareness and leadership in cybersecurity.”
