Catriona Finnie CA appointed to UK Gift Aid group

Catriona Finnie, a member of the Charities and Education Group at accountancy firm Chiene + Tait (C+T), has joined HMRC’s newly-formed working group, set up to consider increasing the effectiveness of UK Gift Aid relief.

She becomes one of the first Scottish-based members to join the group while C+T is the sole accountancy firm to be represented on it.

The new working group will meet in London every two months to consider and review the effectiveness of Gift Aid, a form of income tax relief introduced in 1990 to benefit charities and community sports clubs

Euan Morrison, the head of C+T’s Charity and Education Sector Group said: “Catriona has both the experience and energy to make a huge contribution to the Gift Aid Working Group."

Blackstone/GSO Loan Financing appoints Heather MacCallum CA as Director

Heather MaCallum CA has been announced as Director at Blackstone/GSO Loan Financing.

Heather was a partner of KPMG Channel Islands from 2001, retiring from the partnership on 30 September 2016.

She was with KPMG's financial services practice for 20 years, predominantly providing audit and advisory services to the investment management sector.

Heather currently serves as a non-executive director on the board of Jersey Water where she is chair of the audit committee and on the board of Kedge Capital Fund Management Limited, an asset management business.

Mark McRae CA joins Martin Aitken & Co

Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers Martin Aitken & Co Ltd. has announced Mark McRae as the new Director of its Business Advisory and Accounting division to further broaden its client portfolio service offering across the West of Scotland.

Mark joins Martin Aitken & Co from Scott-Moncrieff where he led its Glasgow Business Advisory team servicing a wide portfolio of clients – from start-ups up to growing and established businesses.

Mark said: “I’m delighted to join Martin Aitken at a time of real growth for the firm.

"The firm’s focus matches mine which is the SME market. Martin Aitken & Co is set up to provide the best advice to these businesses and our advanced use of Cloud technology has further enhanced the quality of the accounting and tax services we can provide."

Mobeus grows portfolio management team

Mobeus has announced the appointment of Clive Austin as partner to lead the team and the hiring of highly experienced portfolio directors Jane Reoch and Ed Wass.

Clive has been working with Mobeus since 2013 and has overall responsibility for the investment portfolio.

Jane joins from Panoramic Growth Equity and has worked in the industry for over 10 years, across a number of high-performing growth funds. She was included in Management Today’s ‘35 women under 35 2015’, and has extensive experience across IT services, software, media, and consumer goods.

Previously Chief Investment Officer at Catapult Ventures, Ed also brings more than 15 years’ experience of both managing and investing in SMEs. He started his career with PwC and has held a number of Finance Director roles including being part of an MBO team himself.

Lloyds Banking Group appoints Managing Director 

Scott Barton has been appointed to the role of Managing Director, Mid Markets for the Commercial Banking division of Lloyds Banking Group, reporting to David Oldfield, Group Director of Commercial Banking.

Scott comes from Standard Chartered where he was Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking, Europe. He joins Lloyds Banking Group on 1 November.

Prior to joining Standard Chartered in 2013, Barton spent 20 years at RBS in a number of leadership roles including CEO International Banking, CEO UK Large Corporates and Head of Global Banking and Markets for Middle East & Africa.
