Lyall Dochard CA becomes CFO of Iqarus
Lyall Dochard CA has become the new Chief Financial Officer of health and medical solutions firm Iqarus. He will oversee Iqarus’ financial and corporate governance activity as the firm pursues its expansion and diversification strategy.
Lyall has over 25 years’ experience as a senior finance professional within the oil and gas, technology and biotech sectors. He was previously CFO at Swire Oilfield Services.
Lyall said: “I am delighted to be joining Iqarus at this important time in its development. I look forward to working with Tim and the senior management team as the company continues to invest internally and externally to expand and deliver against its strategic priorities.”
Iqarus CEO Tim Mitchell added: “Lyall’s experience, knowledge and judgement are a perfect fit with our culture and our vision for Iqarus."
Two CAs join AiB advisory board
Leading insolvency practitioners Bryan Jackson CA and Laurie Manson CA have been appointed to the advisory board of Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB).
Bryan is a member and former chair of the ICAS Insolvency Committee and has been a part of the industry for almost four decades. He recently joined Johnston Carmichael as a consultant and was previously a partner with BDO LLP and PKF (UK) LLP.
Laurie has previously chaired the ICAS Insolvency Permit Committee and has sat on both the ICAS Regulation Board and the R3 Scottish Technical Committee. She recently retired as a Director with PwC after more than 35 years with the firm.
AiB Chief Executive Richard Dennis said: “Our new Advisory Board members are some of the most respected and authoritative in the field of insolvency in Scotland and bring with them a wealth of experience in strategic planning and business management."
PwC grows UK insurance tax team
PwC has appointed Lindsay J’afari-Pak as UK Insurance Tax Market Leader. She will succeed Colin Graham, who will focus on his role as Global Insurance Tax Leader.
Lindsay started her career at PwC and has held roles at Herbert Smith, AXA UK and Resolution. She returned to PwC as a partner in 2013 and has led the UK firm’s tax services to the life insurance industry for the past three years.
Lindsay is a director on the board of TheCityUK and a corporate development board member of charity Rosa.
She said: “I am very proud to have been asked to lead our wonderful team. Our people are passionate about the work they do for our insurance clients, and I am looking forward to the next chapter, as we embark on a period of momentous change in the UK.”
Chris Massey joins Willis Towers Watson
Former PwC partner Chris Massey is set to join advisory firm Willis Towers Watson as a Senior Strategic Adviser.
Chris worked at PwC for 12 years in a variety of strategic consulting roles. He has a background in defined benefit (DB) pensions consulting.
Peter Rowles, head of Willis Towers Watson’s UK Retirement practice, said: “Chris is an experienced hire for us and joins a very strong Edinburgh team that has grown over the last few years. We are excited about what Chris can bring to the firm as he has consulted for some of the biggest companies in the world and has a focus on strategic advice to businesses.”
Close Brothers Invoice Finance announces new leadership roles
Close Brothers Invoice Finance has joined its north and south businesses to form a new UK structure, which has created several new leadership roles.
Ian Steward is now Managing Director of the UK operation. He was previously Managing Director of the firm’s north business. Fiona Parkinson and George May have also become Commercial Directors.
David Thomson, Chief Executive of Close Brothers Invoice Finance & Rentals, said: “The vast experience of our restructured leadership team of Ian, Fiona, George, Paul and Andy is a great foundation from which to continue to build our business.”
