Alastair Nimmons CA appointed CFO at Native Shoes

Alastair Nimmons CA has been named as new Chief Financial Officer of Native Shoes in Vancouver, Canada.

Alastair moved to Canada in 1997 as part of an international secondment with KPMG. He then spent 10 years with PwC in Vancouver and left the position of Director in 2011 to rejoin KPMG as Partner. Most recently, Alastair was a Senior Financial Advisor and Acting CFO of Destination Canada for three years.

He qualified as a CA with KPMG in 1997 and is also a member of CPA Canada and the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of British Columbia.

Katie Hearns CA sets up MTD Scotland

Katie Hearns CA has set up MTD Scotland as a financial management advisory service for SMEs across Fife and the Lothians.

Katie was formally a Financial Controller for Nova Innovation. She also spent more than three years in accountancy roles at the National Trust for Scotland and was a Corporate Tax Manager for BP. Katie qualified as a CA with Deloitte in 2005.

She is a recognised QuickBooks Online Proadvisor and a FreeAgent partner accountant.

IVSC announces addition to Board of Trustees

Ana Maria Elorrieta has joined the Board of Trustees of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC).

Ana is a former Board Member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB). She was previously Chair of the Brazilian Institute of Independent Accountants and was listed by the International Accounting Bulletin as one of the 50 most powerful people in the accounting profession in 2013.

Sir David Tweedie CA, Chairman of IVSC, said: “Ana Maria will be an excellent addition to our Board of Trustees having served the accounting profession with distinction in South America and beyond. Her experience on the Board of IFAC and the IAASB will be hugely beneficial in aiding our work to raise standards of international valuation practice.”

PwC names new Head of UK Legal Business

Ed Stacey, Partner at PwC, has been appointed Head of the Big Four firm's UK Legal Business.

He has been with PwC for over 16 years, holding several senior roles in the legal function. Previously, Ed was a Solicitor with the Royal Bank of Scotland, Theodore Goddard, and trained with CMS Cameron McKenna. He will continue to lead PwC's employment law team in addition to his new role.

Ed commented: "We have seen exceptional growth across our business in recent years and I am looking forward to leading the next phase of our growth plans."

Debenhams appoints Non-Executive Director

Multinational retailer Debenhams has recruited David Adams to its Board as a Non-Executive Director.

David was formerly the CFO of House of Fraser for nine years and is currently a Board Member at Halfords, Fever-Tree, Elegant Hotels Group, and Thinksmart.

Debenhams Chairman Sir Ian Cheshire said: “We are delighted to welcome David Adams to Debenhams. His knowledge of the consumer and leisure sectors as well as his financial credentials will be a great addition to the Board.”
