Anne Thorburn CA appointed Non-Executive Director of BTG Plc

Anne Thorburn CA has been promoted to the position of Non-Executive Director at specialist healthcare company BTG. She will also join the Audit Committee.

Anne was previously CFO of Exova Group and is currently a Non-Executive Director of Diploma Plc, where she also chairs the Audit Committee. Anne has worked in finance for over 30 years, including senior roles with Clyde Bowers and British Polythene Industries. She qualified as a CA in 1987 with KPMG.

Garry Watts, BTG Chairman, said: “We are pleased to welcome Anne to the Board. She brings significant financial and broad business experience, which will benefit the company as we continue to implement our growth plans.”

David Matthews CA named Vice President of ICAEW

David Matthews CA has been announced as the new Vice President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

A member of both ICAS and ICAEW, David is Head of Quality and Risk at KPMG UK. He joined the ICAEW Council in 2010 and chairs the body's technical strategy board. David qualified as an ICAS CA in 1985 with KPMG.

Current Vice President Fiona Wilkinson commented: "It was fantastic to receive so many strong applications, all of whom showed great enthusiasm and commitment to ICAEW.

"I am thrilled that David will be taking the role of vice president and am excited to see the changes he will bring with him."

Partner promotion at haysmacintyre

Chartered accountant firm haysmacintyre has named Mark Pattenden a Partner in the private client department.

He has been with haysmacintyre since 2001 and has served as Private Client Tax Director. Previously, Mark worked with HLB Kidsons and specialises in advising seed and angel investment. He is an Advisory Board Member of Angel Academe, the business network for angel investors.

The firm also announced Alex Gillespie is to join its' not-for-profit team as Senior Manager.

Recognising the talent and personal success of our staff and having new faces join the firm is a fantastic way to start the year. We are excited for this growth to continue throughout 2018.”

Dechert announces new Chief Operating Officer

Nigel Austin joins law firm Dechert as Chief Operating Officer of the World Compass and World Passport digital services for cross-border investment.

He previously worked as an International Compliance Officer with Janus Henderson Investors after several senior roles at Janus Capital International and Janus International Group, where he spent over 10 years.

Gus Black, Co-Chair of Dechert’s global financial services practice, stated: "We are committed to developing innovative tools for global investment firms and are very pleased to welcome Nigel on board to lead our World Compass and World Passport service offerings."

Mazars appoint new Partner in London office

Sam Porritt returns to Mazars as Insurance Audit Partner after two years as a Director with Grant Thornton.

He was previously with the firm for 11 consecutive years, most recently as Audit Partner, and has worked extensively with AIM-listed companies and international groups in the insurance and investment management industries.
