Peter Smith CA promoted to Partner at BDO

Peter Smith CA is due to become an Audit Partner in BDO’s financial services team, where he will focus on growing the business in the Capital Markets and listed investment funds sectors.

Peter joined BDO through the merger with PKF in 2013 and is currently a Director in the firm's financial services practice. He qualified as a CA with PKF in 2008.

He is one of 15 new Partner appointments made at BDO, four of which are in the audit practice. Peter will be joined by David Butcher, Ollie Chinneck and Fiona Condron.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the partnership at a really exciting time for the firm and in particular for our financial services team. I look forward to contributing to the success of our clients and our business in the years to come.”

Managing Partner Paul Eagland commented: “It is an exciting time to be at BDO. We have an excellent market position and the financial strength to invest in the long term in our talent, technology and the new opportunities an evolving market presents.”

Jim Clarke CA to retire from Countrywide

Jim Clarke CA has announced his intention to retire from estate agency group Countrywide in December. The company have named Himanshu Raja as his successor in the role of Group CFO.

Jim has been with Countrywide for over 10 years and was previously the Finance Director of both JD Wetherspoon and David Lloyd Leisure. He qualified as a CA with Grant Thornton in 1984.

KPMG appoint new Partner

Patrick Race has joined KPMG in London as Partner in the firm's pensions investment advisory team.

Formerly a Senior Partner at Mercer, Patrick has a wealth of experience in business investments having been with the company for over two decades.

He said: “KPMG’s team has been doing some really innovative work to help trustees and scheme managers ride out volatility, de-risk and better assess scheme liabilities.

"I look forward to working with the firm’s clients to help them tackle these issues and deliver the best results for members in what is a challenging time for the pensions industry.”

Deloitte Digital announce new Partner and Director

Matthew Clarke and Wendy Stonefield have moved to senior roles in Deloitte's creative digital consultancy.

They both join from Amaze, the digital marketing, technology and commerce consultancy. Matthew held the role of CTO at the company and previously operated as CEO of UniServity. Wendy was CCO of Amaze and has more than 20 years experience in the sector.

Sam Roddick, UK Head of Deloitte Digital, commented: “We are thrilled that Matthew and Wendy have joined Deloitte Digital, bringing a wealth of commerce expertise to the team. Now that digital commerce is an essential part of how any business engages with customers, we are seeing an increased demand for multidisciplinary skills to help deliver on our client’s ambitions."

Willis Towers Watson hires Senior Consultant

Willis Towers Watson has appointed Gavin Hill as a Senior Consultant in its risk consulting and software business.

Gavin joins the team from the Bank of England where he was a Senior Technical Specialist for the Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA). He has also worked with Zurich and Deloitte in a capital modelling capacity.

He said: “The insurance landscape is evolving rapidly and I look forward to working with our clients to help them take control of their regulatory relationships and manage their risk and capital strategy in order to achieve profitable outcomes during these challenging times."
