Sandy Manson CA appointed as President of ICAS

Johnston Carmichael CEO Sandy Manson CA has succeeded Sir Brian Souter CA as President of ICAS.

Sandy became Managing Partner of Johnston Carmichael’s Aberdeen office in 1995 and Chief Executive in 2007. Under his leadership, the firm has grown its fee income from £20m to £44m and its headcount from 300 to 700 through a combination of organic growth and acquisition.

Commenting on his new appointment, he said: “I am extremely proud to take the helm at the world’s first accountancy body, founded by my predecessors more than 160 years ago.

“A key focus for me during my term in office will be to work to increase the level of public trust in business and to strive to promote the values and further enhance the reputation of our profession.

“We have a critical role to play in building public trust. ICAS and our 21,000 Chartered Accountants need to lead the way."

Ewan Grant CA named Managing Partner of RSM in Edinburgh

Ewan Grant CA has been announced as the new Managing Partner of RSM UK's Edinburgh office.

He has been with the firm for over 20 years and is currently Head of Corporate Finance in Scotland. Ewan also chairs the RSM International transactional advisory group. He qualified as a CA in 1988 and is also a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (MCSI).

Ewan commented: "It’s an honour to take on the role of the office managing partner in my hometown. In my time at RSM I’ve seen the business grow in size, expertise, capability and geographic reach both in the UK and internationally.

"We have a strong, dynamic team in place, and I look forward to working together with them to shape our future firm."

AAB announce new roles within Consulting team

Anderson Anderson & Brown (AAB) has launched AAB Consulting, a new platform to meet an increase in demand for consulting services at the firm.

The team will be headed by Bill Kane, who has been named Chief Executive of the new business. Bill joined AAB as a Director in 2017 and spent a year as Head of Consulting.

He is joined by Alasdair Green in the role of Consulting Director. Alasdair will lead AAB Consulting’s energy team, with a particular focus on the oil and gas sector.

KPMG appoints Head of UK Infrastructure, Building and Construction practice

KPMG has named Jonathan White as the new lead for its UK Infrastructure, Building and Construction practice, following Richard Threlfall's promotion to Global Head of Infrastructure earlier this year.

Jonathan has been with the Big Four firm for over 20 years and has advisory experience in a broad range of sectors. He is currently a Deal Advisory Partner specialising in infrastructure transactions

He commented: "My job is to ensure our industry-leading team continues to provide clients with the insight and guidance to make sense of this new environment so they can invest in the infrastructure that underpins the UK economy."

Aon names new Head of Client Service for UK Investment

Aon has welcomed Emma Adair as Head of Client Service for UK investment, effective immediately.

Emma began her career at Hewitt, one of Aon's predecessor firms, and has nearly 20 years of experience in investment advisory and client relationship management. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and has an LLB in law and accountancy.
