Stephen Wise CA joins Dimension Data in Singapore

Stephen Wise CA has been appointed Director of Consulting Services at Dimension Data Asia Pacific.

He joins the company from Infosys Consulting, formerly known as Lodestone Management Consultants, where he was Managing Partner for East Asia. Stephen has also previously worked with IBM Global Business Services in Thailand and PwC Consulting in Malaysia. He qualified as a CA with Grant Thornton in 1993.

Stephen served as Chairman of the Bangkok Soccer League for over 11 years and chaired the SAP Thailand Partner Advisory Board from 2005 to 2007.

Three CAs among Director promotions at Deloitte

Mark Pool CA, Paul Cowley CA and Paul Hazelton CA join Daniel Barry and Gareth Hancock as new additions to Deloitte's Director team in Scotland.

Mark qualified as a CA with the Big Four firm in 2009 and is based in Edinburgh where he leads the transfer pricing team. Paul Cowley became a CA in 2000 and is now a financial services Director in the Glasgow office. Paul Hazelton has worked with Deloitte for over a decade and qualified as a CA in 2008.

Steve Williams, Deloitte Senior Partner for Scotland and Northern Ireland, said: “Each of our new Directors has demonstrated an admirable commitment to our firm and its values, leading the way in their respective industries and acting as an inspiration to their wider teams. They have a vast amount of experience between them and we look forward to them playing an even more active role at Deloitte in the years ahead."

FCA names Maggie Craig as new Head of Department in Scotland

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has announced Maggie Craig as the first to hold the position of Head of Department, Scotland from September 2017.

Maggie has more than 20 years' experience in financial services, including senior roles with Aegon and Standard Life. She is currently Head of Insurance and Pensions Policy at the FCA and has been with the body since 2014.

Andrew Bailey, Chief Executive of the FCA commented: “This is a significant step and underlines our commitment to our presence in Scotland. Maggie brings to the role a large amount of experience and knowledge including established stakeholder relationships which will stand her in good stead for developing the FCA’s presence in Scotland.”

New Director General of Customer Compliance appointed at HMRC

Penny Ciniewicz has taken over the position of Director General of Customer Compliance for HMRC.

She most recently held the role of Chief Executive of the Valuation Office Agency (VOA). Prior to that role, she was a Director in Knowledge, Intelligence and Analysis at HMRC.

Addressing her new appointment, Penny said: "It’s a privilege to be returning to HMRC after nearly eight years as Chief Executive for the VOA. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to build on the work of Jennie Granger in ensuring we reduce the tax gap and promote compliance, ensuring we bring in the money that pays for the UK’s public services."

The Bank of England has named a new Chief Operating Officer

Joanna Place is set to succeed Charlotte Hogg as Chief Operating Office at the Bank of England on a permanent basis, having filled the role in an acting capacity for a number of months.

Joanna has held several senior positions within the bank, including most recently as Executive Director of Human Resources. She has also been Head of Customer Banking and served as Head of Monetary and Financial Statistics.
