Allison Devine CA becomes Senior Partner at Alexander Sloan

Alexander Sloan, Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, has announced that Allison Devine CA has taken over as Senior Partner.

Allison joined the firm as a trainee CA in 1999 and qualified in 2002.

Prior to her appointment, Allison has held roles within the firm including Audit Manager, Associate Partner.

Macfarlane Group appoints ICAS Advisory Group member as Non-Executive Director

Macfarlane Packaging, the largest distributor of protective packaging products and services in the UK, has appointed James Baird as Non-Executive Director.

James has also been appointed Chairman of the company’s Auditing Committee, succeeding Stuart Paterson.

James currently sits on the ICAS Strategy and Research Advisory Group which is responsible for the strategic direction of the ICAS Research Centre.

Before joining Macfarlane, James led the Scotland and Northern Ireland business of Deloitte, before becoming Managing Partner in the Big Four firm’s Audit & Risk Advisory division and Chief Operating Officer in Switzerland.

New Global Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services lead appointed at EY

EY has announced that Andrew Gordon has joined the firm as the new Global Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services lead.

Andrew joins EY from Big Four rival PwC where he spent almost 30 years working in the firm’s Forensic Services business, most recently holding the role of Global and UK leader.

Speaking of his appointment, Andrew said: “It is a privilege to lead EY Global FIDS at this time. My focus is on working with our international team of forensic accountants, compliance and technology professionals to support clients across multiple industry sectors and geographic regions to address the complex financial and reputational risks they are facing.”

New board member for Smith & Williamson

Andrew Fisher, former Towry Chief Executive, has been announced as Non-Executive Director of Smith & Williamson.

He will replace Robert Bogart, who held the position since January 2012 and stepped down last year.

As well as heading up the Towry Group, Andrew has also been CEO of Coutts & Co. and was Non-Executive Director of C.Hoare & Co.

Glenny hires new Partner

Philip Colman has been announced as Divisional Partner in Glenny’s Investment team.

Philip joins the firm from Lambert Smith Hampton, where he was an Associate Director within the Capital Markets team, having worked previously at GVA.

John Bell, Managing Partner at Glenny, said: “Philip’s appointment to the Glenny Business Space Agency team was a no-brainer due to the seamless geographical and sector specialism fit."
