Jann Brown CA named Managing Director and CFO of SOCO International

Former ICAS President Jann Brown CA has taken the role of Managing Director and CFO of global oil and gas company SOCO International.

Jann previously held the position of Co-Head of Business Development at the company. In the past, she has been Managing Director and CFO of Cairn Energy, Co-Founder and CFO of Magna Energy Limited and is currently Audit Committee Chair for both John Wood Group and the Troy Income and Growth Trust.

She qualified as a CA with KPMG in 1990 and is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT). Jann was President of ICAS for 2014/15.

John Brodie CA to be made Chairman of the Scottish Retail Consortium

John Brodie CA has been named as next Chairman of the Scottish Retail Consortium (SRC), effective from 1 January 2018.

John is currently the Chief Executive of the Scottish Midland Co-Operative Society (Scotmid). He has over 20 years' experience in the retail sector, having joined the company in 1993. John qualified as a CA in 1989.

He said: "Scotland’s retail industry makes an enormous economic and social contribution to our country. However, this is a crucial time for the industry and the challenges it faces have rarely been greater.

"I look forward to taking on the leadership of the SRC Board, and driving that process of advocating for change."

Teye Mkushi CA joins Guinness Ghana Breweries as Finance Director

Teye Mkushi CA has moved into the role of Finance Director at Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GBBL).

Teye joins from Diageo, where she has held a number of positions over the past nine years. Most recently, she was Group Financial Planning and Analysis Director for the company in Budapest, Hungary.

She qualified as a CA with EY in 2009.

BDO announces 33 promotions across Scotland

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has promoted 33 members of staff in the firm's Edinburgh and Glasgow offices.

Martin Gill, Head of BDO in Scotland, said: "These 33 promotions really underline the talent we have within our Scottish team. One of the best parts of my role is to share good news like this and it is so rewarding to see each of these individuals succeeding in their respective roles.

Citi Commercial Bank appoints new UK Head

Citi has named Catherine Pierre as new UK Head of Citi Commercial Bank (CCB).

She has been with Citigroup since 2001 and has held a number of senior roles within the CCB, particularly in investment. Most recently, Catherine was Head of Capital Management Execution for the EMEA.
