CAs awarded in Queen's Birthday Honours
The former Group Chairman of HSBC, Douglas Flint CA, has been recognised with a knighthood in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. He stepped down from HSBC in September 2017.
While Lieutenant Colonel Grenville Shaw Johnston, OBE, TD and Sir Brian Gammell Ivory, CBE have both been awarded the Royal Victorian Order CVO.
Jenny Junnier CA appointed Senior Manager
Grant Thornton has appointed a new Senior Manager as it continues its expansion in the north east of Scotland.
Jenny Junnier has joined the leading business and financial adviser, specialising in Audit-related client work. Her appointment is part of Grant Thornton’s long-term growth strategy in Aberdeen, which has already resulted in a number of hires and a recent move to the Silver Fin Building in the heart of Union Street.
With more than 18 years’ experience, including time spent with Deloitte, EY and Subsea 7, Jenny has developed a robust business network and is currently Chair and founding member of the Aberdeen X-Industry Support (AXIS) network, which champions increased gender diversity in the energy sector.
Sopra Steria appoints new Financial Services lead
Digital transformation firm Sopra Steria has named Craig Wilson as its new Managing Director of Financial Services.
Craig joins Sopra Steria after 18 years at HSBC, where he held various senior management and Director-level positions, most recently as Chief Operating Officer of its UK Commercial Banking Division.
John Torrie, CEO, Sopra Steria UK, said: "I am delighted to welcome Craig into a major strategic role for us."
Former Citi exec joins Traydstream
Trade finance software firm, Traydstream, have announced the executive appointment of Asif Ali as Managing Director of Product.
Ali brings extensive knowledge of the trade space to the FinTech, having most previously headed Citi’s Trade Business for United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iraq and Lebanon, in addition to Corporate Trade Sales for Middle East and Pakistan (ME&P).

Deloitte promotes 136 new Partners
Deloitte North West Europe has promoted 136 new Partners, with 54 new partners in the UK.
Deloitte North West Europe, which came into effect from 1 June 2017, is a combination of Deloitte’s Belgian, Dutch, Nordics, Swiss, and UK firms, with Ireland joining on 1 June 2018.
The promotions take the total number of Partners across the newly combined firm to approximately 2,300 and over 35,000 employees in total.
David Sproul, Senior Partner and Chief Executive, Deloitte North West Europe, said: “Today we celebrate the promotion of 136 of our colleagues. Being a larger, stronger firm allows us to provide more opportunities for our people and to grow the talent we have across our six geographies."
