David Hales CA promoted to Managing Partner at EY
David Hales CA has been appointed Managing Partner of EY's Southampton office. He succeeds Geraint Davies, who is transferring to EY Malta.
David has been with the firm for more than 30 years and joins the team from its Reading location. He has previously led the EY Entrepreneur of the Year programme in the South.
He commented: "The South Coast is a great place for businesses to invest and grow and I'm looking forward to working with more of the region's local businesses to support them with their growth ambitions, as we look to expand our mid-market business across the region."
Alex Moss CA joins StoneTurn as Senior Manager
Alex Moss CA has joined StoneTurn, a forensic accounting, corporate compliance and expert services firm, as a Senior Manager in London. He will be working with Annabel Kerley as part of the investigations team.
Alex joins StoneTurn from FTI Consulting, where he was a Director in Forensic and Litigation Consulting. He previously held several roles with EY, most recently as a Manager in the firm’s Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services practice.
He qualified as a CA in 2009 and is also a Certified Fraud Examiner.
Financial Reporting Council (FRC) appoints acting Executive Director of Audit and Actuarial Regulation
The FRC has announced that Mike Suffield will act as interim Executive Director of Audit and Actuarial Regulation after the departure of Melanie Hind, who is moving overseas.
Mike joined the FRC in 2016 as Director of Audit Quality and previously worked as a Lead Director in the National Audit Office. He is an ICAEW member.
Melanie's departure was announced in June 2018 and will come into effect by August.
RSM names new European Regional Leader
RSM has appointed Gregor Schmidt to the role of European Regional Leader after a year of growth in the region in 2017.
Gregor joined RSM in Germany six years ago as Chief Operating Officer. He became Chief Officer of Strategy, Markets and Communications in 2016 and played a key role in establishing RSM GmbH.
He said: "More than ever, European businesses are looking to their advisers to both understand their needs and aspirations and to anticipate and respond to these challenges. I look forward to driving growth for our clients and for RSM during this era."
Grant Thornton makes appointment to Scottish restructuring and forensics team
Julie Dallas has joined Grant Thornton's Glasgow office as a Restructuring and Forensic Executive.
She joins from AlixPartners, where she was Vice President. Julie has also worked with Zolfo Cooper LLP (now part of AlixPartners) and BiP Solutions Ltd.
Speaking on her new role, Julie commented: "I’m already working closely with two corporate advisory assignments and I’m looking forward to assisting Grant Thornton’s diverse range of clients, unlocking their potential for growth."
