James Dewar CA appointed Non-Executive Director

James Dewar CA has been named as the new Non-Executive Director of Lamprell plc, specialists in oil rig construction. James will also to be appointed as a member of both the Audit & Risk Committee and the Remuneration & Development Committee.

James has spent nearly 30 years working in the oil and gas industry, many of them in senior executive roles, notably as VP Transformation and VP Global Financial Systems for BP. He also served as Group CFO for Dana Gas PJSC, a company listed on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange.

KPMG announces a number of senior promotions

KPMG in Scotland has announced a record three new partners, five director promotions, and new heads of tax, audit and consulting, following "strong growth across the business, and signalling the firm’s commitment to investing in talent".

A number of director promotions have also been made, with Katie Morrison CA, Andrew Williamson CA and Iain McLellan joining the senior team in Glasgow. Rob Logue and Jacqueline Hughes became directors in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, respectively. John Waterson has been promoted to audit partner, while David O’Hara and Sandra Gilchrist have been made tax partners.

Hugh Harvie CA, who has been at KPMG since 1994, took over as Head of the Audit Practice earlier this year and leads a team of over 100. Partner Alan Turner CA has been appointed Head of Tax in Scotland and leads a growing tax and pensions practice, as well as the UK firm’s Tax Compliance Centre of Excellence in Glasgow.

River and Mercantile appoint new Senior Independent Director

The asset management company have named Angela Crawford-Ingle as new Senior Independent Director.

Angela currently operates as the firms Non-Executive Director and also as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. Previously, Angela was a partner at PwC for 20 years, and led the insurance and investment division. Angela is currently a Partner at Ambre, as well as being Non-Executive Director at Beazley.

Johnston Carmichael appoints Corporate Finance Partner

Johnston Carmichael has appointed a new managing partner for its Edinburgh office as part of the firm’s continued growth plans.

Corporate Finance Partner Mark Stewart will take over the reins from Andrew Shepherd, who has held the role since the office opened in 2002 and in that time has seen the office grow to a team of almost 130 people.

Mark heads up the firm’s Infrastructure and Renewable Energy Advisory team and with over 20 years’ experience in the sector, he specialises in providing transactional advice to a diverse range of clients. Mark previously held senior positions at RSM UK and KPMG.
