Jill Walker CA promoted at AAB

Chartered accountants and business advisory firm Anderson Anderson & Brown have announced the promotion of three new directors.

Jill Walker CA has been promoted to the position of Director of the Private Client Team, advising unincorporated businesses on all types of transactions together with managing their annual tax compliance requirements.

Jill also specialises in advice to non-resident individuals and helps them manage their exposure to UK taxes together with considering the impact on overseas tax liabilities.

Lynn Wilson will specialise in tax advice and Stuart Petrie will lead the firm's Tax Investigations team.

Graeme Allan, Managing Partner at AAB, said: “All of these promotions are richly deserved as not only do each of them have significant experience and expertise in specialist areas of tax, but they continue to bring new ideas and strategic initiatives to the business."

Jim Robertson CA appointed Non-Executive Director to the Scottish Government

ICAS Council member Jim Robertson CA has been appointed a non-executive director in the Scottish Government and deputy chair of the government’s Audit & Assurance Committee.

Jim was global head of oil & gas tax in Shell for 11 years. He is now a Senior Fellow of ITIC, an education foundation based in Washington DC, in which he delivers capacity-building programmes to tax officials in developing countries together with the IMF, OECD and UN.

He is a member of the UN Subcommittee on Extractive Industries Taxation Issues for Developing Countries and Chair of the academic board of the Advanced Diploma in International Tax of the UK Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Victoria Roos CA promoted to Director of Finance

Victoria Roos CA has been promoted to the role of Director of Finance for Mercy Corps.

She will be based in Ugandan capital of Kampala and will travel between the organisation's seven field offices in the country.

Victoria joined Mercy Corps in 2013 and has held a number of roles including Senior International Finance Officer, Finance and Compliance Manager and Subawards and Compliance Director.

Iain Walker CA appointed Partner at French Duncan

Iain Walker CA has been promoted from Director to Partner in French Duncan's Corporate Advisory team.

Graeme Finnie, Managing Partner of French Duncan, said: “Iain joined the corporate advisory team two and a half years ago and he has made a huge difference in that time.

"Through his hard work, extensive contacts, and his skills and knowledge he has brought in several clients for the firm as well as helped existing clients with important and substantial deals.”

Iain is also a chartered business valuer and has more than 10 years’ experience in corporate finance both in the UK and abroad.

Chris Astle CA named VP Finance at Alder Biopharmaceuticals

Pharmaceutical development company Alder Biopharmaceuticals has announced the appointment of Chris Astle CA to the role of Vice President Finance.

Chris is also a Non-Executive Director, the Resident CFO at the Finance Director Magazine, Chair of the 2018 CFO Agenda Conference, a Guest Lecturer at the Henley MBA School, on the advisory committee for the Finance Director Magazine and the CFO Agenda conference, and presenter at various finance conferences.
