Elaine Whelan CA steps down from Lancashire Holdings
Elaine Whelan CA, Lancashire Holdings' Group CFO and Executive Director, and CEO of Lancashire’s Bermudian subsidiary, Lancashire Insurance Company Limited, plans to retire from her roles during the course of 2020.
Elaine will continue in her role as Group CFO throughout 2019 and the 2019 financial year end process, and plans to step down as Group CFO and from her executive directorship of Lancashire at the end of February 2020.
She said: “I have enjoyed the many challenges and savoured the successes we have achieved at Lancashire in my time with the business. It has been a tremendous experience and I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing people.
"While I will miss that a great deal, personally the time has come for a change and my retirement from Lancashire gives me that."
Gerald McLaughlin CA appointed Partner at Wylie & Bisset
Glasgow-based chartered accountants Wylie & Bisset has appointed Gerald McLaughlin CA as its first ever Corporate Finance Partner.
Gerald returns to the firm he qualified with 15 years ago from Campbell Dallas where he held the position of Corporate Finance Director.
He said: "I was delighted to receive this approach to return ‘home’ to Wylie & Bisset at a time when the corporate finance market is so buoyant."
Jonny Jacobs CA joins M&S
One Young CA 2017 winner Jonny Jacobs CA has joined M&S Food as Head of Finance.
Jonny moved to M&S from pladis (the global snacking business and owner of the Mcvitie's, Jacob’s and Godiva brands) where he led Strategy and Transformation for the UK&I business.
Prior to that role Jonny was interim CFO for the US business and also led Supply Chain finance.
Jonny's notable achievements outside of core finance including creating a mental health programme for the business with initiatives such as the partnership between Mcvitie's and mental health charity Mind, 'lets talk', aiming to get the nation talking.
Richard Ellison CA joins The Cumberland
UK building society The Cumberland has named Richard Ellison CA as its new CFO.
Richard was most recently interim FD of Newcastle Building Society Group.
Prior to this he was Deputy CFO and CDO of CYBG PLC.
He also spent 14 years at PwC, latterly as a Director in the Banking and Capital Markets practice.
Des Moore, The Cumberland’s Chief Executive said: “This is a very exciting time for our business and I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to Richard.”
