Will Gold CA becomes FD of Peak Scientific
Will Gold CA has been appointed Finance Director of Peak Scientific, a leading innovator in the design, manufacture and support of high performance gas generators for analytical laboratories.
Will, who was awarded 'emerging FD of the year' in 2013 by Business Insider, joins from a consulting role with insurance broker Arthur J Gallagher. He has also held roles at PwC and Premier Hytemp.
Amanda McMillan CA joins new Brexit advisory council
Amanda, who received an OBE in June 2013 for her services to business and tourism, became Chief Executive of AGS Airports Limited, the partnership between Ferrovial and Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA) established to invest in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports, in 2014.
The Scottish Government's Standing Council on Europe will be chaired by Professor Anton Muscatelli, Principal and Vice Chancellor, University of Glasgow, and will consider the impact of any proposed changes to the UK’s relationship with the EU and how they would impact Scotland.
Director role for Mike Gummery CA in Melbourne
Australian mid-tier firm HLB Mann Judd has appointed Mike Gummery CA as a director in its audit and assurance division.
Mike joined the firm in 2012 and will be based in the Melbourne office. He has more than 10 years’ experience and specialises in assisting companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, as well as private companies.
The firm said that he has experience in corporate finance transactions, including IPOs, IARs and due diligence assignments.
Former PwC Chairman Ian Powell joins Capita plc
Ian Powell has been appointed non-executive director and Chairman designate of Capita plc.
Ian was previously Chairman and Senior Partner of PwC UK. He will succeed Martin Bolland in January 2017, who is standing down after six years as Chairman of the outsourcing firm.
Ian became a partner at PwC in 1991 and joined the executive board in 2006. He said he admired Capita’s “strong growth” and was looking forward to helping to “steer the company through the next stages of its development”.
Ian added: “I look forward to drawing on my leadership and commercial experience at PwC to support the Board to grow Capita further, deliver its business objectives and generate long-term sustainable value to shareholders and wider stakeholders.”
Grant Thornton appoints Derek Blaik
Grant Thornton has appointed Derek Blaik as a new Associate Director, based in the firm’s Edinburgh office.
The firm said he will play a “leading role” growing its wealth advisory team and client base. Derek joins from PwC and has more than 25 years’ experience in financial services.
Andrew Howie, Grant Thornton’s Managing Partner in Scotland and Northern Ireland, said: “Derek has many years of experience and will play a crucial role in helping Grant Thornton build an even stronger presence throughout Edinburgh and the east. Our Scottish growth strategy is focused on delivering strong results through key appointments, new wins and a drive to lead the debate on how Scotland can create a more sustainable, vibrant economy.”
