Big winners at the Tolley’s Tax Awards
The annual Tolley’s Taxation Awards were held in the London Hilton on 18 May.
CA Today and CA Magazine contributor Donald Drysdale was awarded Tax Commentator of the Year, with judges praising his “outstanding series of thoughtful independent contributions in all media across a wide range of issues”.
Anton Colella, Chief Executive, ICAS said: “Donald makes an invaluable contribution to our website by writing articles on a wide range of topics, explaining topical tax issues lucidly in terms targeted towards our general accountancy and business readership.”
Charlotte Barbour, Director of Taxation, ICAS, who collected the award in Donald’s absence, said: “I'm delighted that Donald's excellent work has been recognised with the award of Tax Commentator of the Year.
“Donald has unparalleled skills in being able to explain tax matters and set them in context. We are very fortunate to have Donald write for ICAS.”

Lisa-Marie Smith, Director at Forrest Brown, won the Rising Star award which was sponsored by ICAS.
Charlotte said: “ICAS is pleased to sponsor the Rising Star award, which was won by Lisa-Marie Smith."
ICAS member firm Campbell Dallas received a special commendation for its work on devolved taxes.
Armstrong Watson, another ICAS member firm, earned a place on the shortlist for Tax Practice in a Regional Firm.
“CA firms have been well represented at the awards, and I would encourage more of our members to think of putting forward their firms next year,” said Charlotte.
