Saint John is a seaport city of the Atlantic Ocean located on the Bay of Fundy in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. About the opportunity

Reporting to the CFO, you will hold primary responsibility for In-house bank management, cash and liquidity forecasting and management, bank relationship management, financial risk management (foreign exchange, commodity, and interest rate), working capital financing and Treasury reporting and for the day-to-day operational aspects of the treasury department for Cooke’s global group of companies.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the treasury function within Cooke and to have creative responsibility for the growth and direction of the function within the wider context of the business. In recent years, the Treasury function has incorporated a Treasury Management system (Kyriba) and has commenced the development of an in-house banking strategy. Both of these aspects are in exciting phases of growth and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and define this journey for the function.

About the individual

Attributes:

The Treasury Director must demonstrate strong communication skills, illustrate confidence interacting with key contacts, both internal and external, and possess appropriate executive presence.

The successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to collaborate with multiple business partners across the entire global organization.  This role requires attention to detail given the interaction with external parties for documentation purposes and the communication to the executive team.

Required knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of In-House Bank and the related tax considerations of international cash movements.
• Knowledge of Treasury Management systems (Kyriba is used at Cooke) and their interrelation to ERP systems
• Strong knowledge of Financial Risk Management strategies and products.

Experience:

• 8-10 years of progressive management experience within the Treasury function of a multi-national organization.
• Experience in managing and administering an In-House bank in a multi-jurisdictional international enterprise.
• Significant experience in preparing, analysing, and presenting cash flow and liquidity projection scenarios to optimize liquidity and effectively manage cash.
• Financial risk management experience in a multi-currency dependent corporation.
• CTP/MBA/CFA/CPA designation is preferred.
• A second language would be considered an asset.

About the role

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

• Oversee administration of all in-house bank functions, intercompany netting, and cash pooling.
• Assist in the development and management of various bank relationships.
• Develop and implement cash management operational strategies.
• Daily cash management and approval of weekly Payments budgets to manage global liquidity.
• Oversees tactical cash flow forecasting and preparation of the global cash flow projection: communicate variance with budgeted liquidity and cash generation to the annual business plan.
• Manage global foreign exchange, interest rate and commodity hedging programs. Execute FX transactions and report on spot and hedging activity and manage settlements for the transactions.
• Manage the short-term working capital financing programs, including Securitization, Supply Chain Finance, and other trade finance strategies.
• Oversee compliance with various aspects of our various credit facilities and proactively report on potential conflicts with compliance as they arise.
• Provide regular reporting to the Executive Team on global liquidity and risk management.
• International travel required.
