Salary: £65,000 - £90,000 p/a (depending on experience) + Pension (Employer contribution of 23% - Scottish Teachers Superannuation Scheme), 46 days (36 days flexible + 10 fixed) paid annual leave per annum

We are in an exciting phase of growth, as part of our ambitious strategy to be ‘The Business School for Empowerment, Enterprise and Employability for All’, and this is a key role in the School’s Leadership Team.

Currently, we are looking for a highly ambitious and motivated Professor with vision, experience and international standing to lead the Accounting and Finance Subject Group.

About the role

As a Professor of Accounting and/or Finance, you will have a proven substantive track record of innovative teaching, research, and leadership experience in your field. The successful applicant will be able to evidence successful income generation through research, enterprise or innovation activities and you will contribute to teaching in the area. You will have line management responsibilities and through the provision of effective leadership for a team of up to 30 academic colleagues will be responsible for the support and development of a strong and highly ambitious group of colleagues, including early career academics. Previous experience in a leadership position is essential.

As part of the School’s Leadership Team, you will contribute to the continued development and implementation of our strategic plan, with particular focus on the growth and development of the Accounting and Finance subject area. You will also maintain and further develop our focus on providing an excellent student experience with real world application through the creation of a distinctive curriculum in the accounting and finance areas.

You will have a strong network of industry and academic contacts and engage with relevant stakeholder groups to foster collaboration, innovation and other initiatives, thereby generating income.  A focus for all our academic staff is to maximise networks, build relationships with industry to deliver income growth, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships and internationalise our work with a focus on Transnational Education Programmes (TNE).

About the individual

We are looking for exceptional candidates with a proven record of accomplishment as a senior academic and one who will contribute to the achievement of our ambitious strategy for The Business School. Candidates will bring their experience, skills and creativity to the role, whilst demonstrating evidence of high-quality teaching and research activity within their discipline.

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline
  • Academic achievement including international standing, high quality research outputs, income generation and academic leadership
  • Extensive experience of leading and managing large academic programmes
  • Leadership achievement including management experience in higher education
  • High quality teaching/learning and research programmes
  • An ability to deliver teaching internationally, nationally (UK) and online
