About the role

The Financial Controller position is an excellent opportunity for an individual to join a market leading, ambitious business, where the post-holder will take ownership of all financial reporting. The Financial Controller will manage and develop a small but growing finance function. The appointed individual will be responsible to ensure that we meet compliance and regulatory standards, monitor and manage accounts, be responsible for the financial reporting for the group, as well as lead, mentor and develop the team. The individual will be responsible for presenting the management accounts to board members and wider group stakeholders on a monthly basis as well as oversee the external audit cycle.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

* Managing a finance team consisting of 3 Management Accountants (including 1 based offshore), and in-directly overseeing 2 Accounts Assistants

* Responsibility for delivery of all financial reporting including management accounts, financial statements

* Preparing year end accounts

* Managing year-end audits

* Reviewing corporate tax and VAT returns

* Keeping up to date with technical accounting developments, providing support and advice to the finance team

* Managing the external audit process for full consolidated trading group and input into parent company audit

* Cashflow reporting

* Playing a leading role in current, and potential future, refinancing projects, including due diligence

* Managing and implementing improvements to financial control and procedures

About the individual

    A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:

    * Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA)

    * Ability to develop robust financial reporting and controls

    * Relevant experience developing skills across a broad range of financial disciplines including, financial control and staff management

    * Experience of consolidating accounts is essential

    * Ability to manage and develop a small finance team

    * Committed individual, displaying drive, and professionalism

    * Able to engage with stakeholders at all levels

    * Confident communicator at every level, with the ability to challenge where appropriate

What's on offer

Holidays: 29 days holiday (including English bank holidays + Scottish New Year), increasing by 3 days after 2 years continuous service

Professional Fees: Paid

Pension: 3% Employer Contribution

Working Hours: Hours are 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday

Annual Bonus: Discretionary
