1.Tell us about your firm and what you do?

Lane Media are a media planning and buying agency, based in Edinburgh. We work with a wide range of clients locally, nationally and internationally, advising on media strategy and handling campaign implementation, optimisation and post campaign analysis.  

2.What made you choose a CA over an accountant?

The nature of our business is relatively high turnover and low margin. We recognised the need from an early stage to have trusted business advice, beyond that of a pure accountancy practice.

3. What difference have you noticed between the two? Have there been any benefits for you from using a CA vs traditional accountant?

Our accountancy partner offer more than tax advice and submission of our annual returns.  We receive a far more holistic overview of what's best for our business.  

4. What do you ask of your CA? Business advice?

We meet regularly to discuss a wide range of business realities, from monthly accounts, tax changes and wider market economic factors that impact on our business.

5. How has your CA helped your business?

In two words, business efficiency.  A more in depth understanding of our P&L, wider understanding of how tax changes effect us, positively or negatively.

6. Would you recommend using a CA to other business owners?

Absolutely, in my experience, using a CA means we have access to a business adviser, not just an accountant.
